The 2006 Nobel Prizes have been awarded for people who invented, researched, discovered, and contributed to the world in very important ways. Let’s remember (and reflect) at the beginning of 2007 about these men and women for the contributions they have made to society—for each and every person in the world.
The Nobel Prize has been awarded to men and women from around the world since 1901. Swedish engineer, chemist, and dynamite inventor Alfred Bernhard Nobel (1833-1896) founded the prize in 1895 when he left much of his wealth for the establishment of the Nobel Prize. It acknowledges achievements in physics, chemistry, physiology or medicine, literature, peace, and economics.
The Nobel Laureates of 2006 are:
Physics:
John C. Mather (NASA Goddard Space Flight Center, Greenbelt, Maryland, USA) and George F. Smoot (University of California, Berkeley, California, USA)
They received their Nobel Prize "for their discovery of the blackbody form and anisotropy of the cosmic microwave background radiation".

Chemistry:
Roger D. Kornberg (Stanford University, Stanford, California, USA)
He received his Nobel Prize "for his studies of the molecular basis of eukaryotic transcription".

Physiology or Medicine:
